THU 08.08 Dancing in the City – samba

From 2015, Tsuumi has been teaching regular, free "partner dancing" sessions throughout the summer with the name Kaupunkitanssit ("Dancing in the City"). These sessions take place all around Helsinki and Espoo. Anyone can join the sessions without registration. The teaching happens in Finnish, but it's possible to join without speaking the language. Flow Festival is a leading European music and arts boutique festival taking place in a historic power plant area in the capital of Finland, Helsinki. The streets of Helsinki have been filling with art, culture and night-time wanderers in August for 30 years already. This pioneering block party has grown into a colourful city festival featuring hundreds of big and small art events, with venues ranging from clubs and pubs to the parks and streets of the city.

As August comes to town, every street corner is full of art and so are the islands on the coast of Helsinki. The summery sea fortress Suomenlinna and Viapori Jazz is the perfect place to be when you want to jazz-away your troubles and cares.
 
 
 
FRI 23.8 Bats in Seurasaari

On a warm August evening bats are on the move. They'll hunt and gather food for the autumn migration or for the winter hibernation. With the bat detector we can listen to the sounds they make and if we're in luck, we can spot them with flashlight. Remember to bring your own flashlight! Free entry. 
 
 
 
SAT  24.8 Helsinki Marathon 2019

This is the second time Helsinki Marathon is organized. Helsinki Marathon, 10k, half marathon and marathon relay will be run on urban streets of Helsinki. The start and finish line are located in Meripuisto, Eira.

Kids Run Helsinki -event is for young runners from 5 years to 13 year old, but younger kids are welcome too. Entry fee is 10€/12€.

Herttoniemi Block Party brings the best vibes of Eastern Helsinki to the industrial area of Herttoniemi once again. Let's close the festival summer together. The day will kick off with fun activities and acts for smaller festival guests starting early in the noon and will continue providing you chances to enjoy music acts, arts, dance, bands and street food throughout the whole day. Free entry, no age limit.

SAT - SUN 29.6-01.09 Vintage tram ride 2019
10am - 5pm Kauppatori, Havis Amanda, Helsinki
 
Stadin Ratikat Ltd organizes scheduled vintage tram traffic in the city centre of Helsinki! The trams leave from the tram stop at the Market Square next to the Havis Amanda statue. The first tram leaves at 10.00 am and the last one at 5.00 pm. There is traffic every 20–30 minutes. During bad weather the traffic may be cancelled.
