Accessibility statement for Sokos Hotels Application
This service is built by Suomen Osuuskauppojen Keskuskunta (SOK). We want as many people as possible to be able to use the service. This means that, among other things, you should be able to:
- choose colors, contrast levels and fonts using the settings in your own browser or device.
- zoom into the page as much as you need to without any content becoming unreadable.
- navigate using a keyboard, voice control or other input devices.
- use a screen reader, like NVDA or VoiceOver.
How accessible the service is
This service is partially conformant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) version 2.2 at AA level. We know that some parts of this service might create a barrier to some users, these include:
Screen Reader Issues (VoiceOver and TalkBack)
- If you use VoiceOver, the user cannot access the signature field and cannot finish the check-in.
- If you use TalkBack, the following issues occur: The Finnish Identity Code field cannot be accessed. The Date of Birth field cannot be written into.
- If you use VoiceOver or TalkBack, when copying the reservation number there is no status message indicating that the reservation number has been copied when performing the action.
- If you use VoiceOver or TalkBack, when selecting a nationality, there is no indication of the selected option.
- If you use VoiceOver, the loading view does not provide a status message or description of what is happening.
- If you use a screen reader such as VoiceOver or TalkBack, hotel pictures do not have alternative text or may not be read correctly.
- If you use VoiceOver or TalkBack, the focus order of the headers will not be correct, making navigation difficult.
Text Size Issues
- If you use a text size greater than 180% on a small-screen phone, the Finnish personal identity code field does not scale properly, making the full number within the field partially hidden.
- If you use larger text size, longer headers do not scale properly when the text size is set to 200%, making them difficult to read or causing content to be cut off.
External Keyboard Navigation Issues
- If you use an external keyboard, the "Share Reservation" button in the Hotel Details view is not accessible, the links in the Hotel Details view are not accessible, the Hotel Details photo gallery works partially when using an external keyboard.
- If you use an iPhone with an external keyboard, the Finnish Identity Code field cannot be accessed if you skip it and go back.
- If you use an Android device with an external keyboard, the Finnish Identity Code field cannot be accessed at all.

Below are the most common accessibility deficiencies categorised according to WCAG criteria sections.
General

- The website can be used in landscape mode, however, some elements appear larger or smaller than intended use.
- The website contains graphical elements that do not have text alternatives or have incomplete text alternatives.
- Some buttons have unclear text alternatives or are missing them entirely.
- Not all headings on the website are programmatically marked as headings.
- Not all lists on the website are programmatically marked as lists.
- There are some text elements and graphical elements on the website whose contrast ratios do not meet the minimum requirements.
- In some places, focus moves to elements that are not visible.
Operable: User interface components and navigation must be operable.
- Not all functions are accessible through keyboard use.
- The focus order is not optimal everywhere.
- The website has elements whose interactive parts are not large enough.

Robust: Content must be robust enough that it can be interpreted by a wide variety of user agents, including assistive technologies.

- The website has instances where notifications are not announced to screen readers.
Details - Reservation booking journey:
- Brand logo (link to homepage) has no text alternative
- Social media icons in the footer lack text alternatives
- Decorative images are not properly marked as such, including on the confirmation page
- On the "Omat Tietosi" (Your Information) page, references from labels to fields are broken, so the fields have no accessible names
- Heading levels are not used consistently or descriptively throughout the booking process
- The "Huone 1" heading on the "Valitse huone" (Choose a room) page has insufficient contrast at mobile size
- It's not possible to reach "Hae varaus" (Find reservation) using only the keyboard
- Many stages of the booking process have identical page titles, rather than descriptive ones
- On the "Omat tietosi" (Your Information) page, the accessible names of the fields are empty, so they do not match the visible labels
- Some buttons (language picker, for example) don't pick up an accessible name
- Inside the booking drawer, moving focus away from the place selector causes a selection
- The language names in the language picker are in their local languages but none of their ancestors declare the language of that part of the page
- Some buttons (payment methods) have nested radio buttons (nested interactive controls are not allowed)
- Some elements such as the quantity buttons don't have Estonian translations for screen readers
Other Notable Issues:
- Award images under "Creating happiness" on the homepage should give an indication of where the link will point
