Accessibility statement for Sokos Hotels Website

This service is built by Suomen Osuuskauppojen Keskuskunta (SOK). We want as many people as possible to be able to use the service. This means that, among other things, you should be able to:

  • choose colors, contrast levels and fonts using the settings in your own browser or device.
  • zoom into the page as much as you need to without any content becoming unreadable.
  • navigate using a keyboard, voice control or other input devices.
  • use a screen reader, like NVDA or VoiceOver.

How accessible is the service?

This service is partially conformant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) version 2.2 at AA level.

We know that some parts of this service might create a barrier to some users, these include:

  • The website contains graphical elements that do not have text alternatives or have incomplete text alternatives.
  • Brand logo (link to homepage) has no text alternative.
  • Social media icons in the footer lack text alternatives.
  • Decorative images are not properly marked as such, including on the confirmation page.
  • Not all headings on the website are programmatically marked as headings.
  • Not all lists on the website are programmatically marked as lists.
  • On the 'Omat Tietosi' (Your Information) page, references from labels to fields are broken, so the fields have no accessible names.
  • Heading levels are not used consistently or descriptively throughout the booking process.
  • There are some text elements and graphical elements on the website whose contrast ratios do not meet the minimum requirements.
  • The 'Huone 1' heading on the 'Valitse huone' (Choose a room) page has insufficient contrast at mobile size.
  • Award images under 'Creating happiness' on the homepage should give an indication of where the link will point.
  • Not all functions are accessible through keyboard use.
  • It's not possible to reach 'Hae varaus' (Find reservation) using only the keyboard.
  • The focus order is not optimal everywhere.
  • In some places, focus moves to elements that are not visible.
  • Navigation behavior is not always consistent.
  • Some quantity selection components are not fully accessible in all languages.
  • The language names in the language picker are in their local languages but none of their ancestors declare the language of that part of the page.
  • Some elements such as the quantity buttons don't have Estonian translations for screen readers.
  • Some buttons have unclear text alternatives or are missing them entirely.
  • Some buttons (language picker, for example) don't pick up an accessible name.
  • Some buttons (payment methods) have nested radio buttons (nested interactive controls are not allowed).
  • In several places, content loading or completion of loading is not announced to screen readers.
  • The website has instances where notifications are not announced to screen readers.

Cookie management

  • If you use voice control software, you might find that you're unable to interact with the buttons on the cookie consent panel by name, as their accessible names do not match the visible text. The buttons work correctly if activated a different way, such as identifying them by number.

Logging in and registration

  • If you zoom the text on your screen to 200% or more, the phone number input field may not be fully visible.
