The popular Vanaja shoreline route
Oh what a beautiful morning, oh what a beautiful day....
The popular Vanaja shoreline route for walking and cycling starts from the city centre and continues via the Linnanpuisto and Kaupunginpuisto parks to the eastern shore of Vanajavesi lake and there through Aulanko and Varikonniemi peninsula to the shore at Hotel Vaakuna.
The shoreline route is part of the Hämeenlinna National Urban Park.
The length of the route is about 5.7 km, and all of it is located in the national urban park. The route is easy to travel, accessible without obstacles and also suitable for families with children.
On the route, you can enjoy the magnificent views of the castle and Aulanko, test your luck in fishing on the pier in Kalastuspuisto, take a dip in the lake or stop for a while by a campfire, for example.
There are also pieces of physical exercise equipment for adults on the route. They are currently located in three places: Linnanpuisto, Sairionranta and near the tennis courts in Aulanko.
During dark seasons, hikers are attracted by artificial lighting on the scenery and particular objects.
