Haltia - Finnish Nature Centre
Haltia is a new kind of nature, exhibition, meeting, and event centre which gathers the pearls of Finnish nature under one roof through exhibitions and modern wood architecture.
The Haltia building was designed by architect Rainer Mahlamäki with inspiration from the tales of the Kalevala tradition. The building itself is a sight to behold. Haltia launched a new age in wood construction as it is the first public building built completely out of prefabricated parts made of solid wood. The environment is taken into consideration both in the Haltia facilities and its activities with the help of skilful design and ultra-modern ecological solutions.
At Haltia you are surrounded by the dazzling views over Nuuksio National Park and Lake Nuuksio Pitkäjärvi as well as the excellent hiking terrain. The Haltia Restaurant offers tasty natural lunches as well as café products all day. At the nature shop you can find maps and souvenirs, among other things, and our customer service will help with hiking tips. Haltia is also worth visiting for its frequent free events.
