Summer fun for the whole family in Vaasa!
UNESCO world heritage site
Vaasa offers various options for family holidays. Nature lovers will enjoy Korsholm where you can admire the famous Kvarken Archipelago, UNESCO's world heritage site and Finland's only nature heritage site. The breathtakingly beautiful route starts from the centre of Vaasa towards the Svedjehamn harbour located in Björköby and to the world heritage site through the Replot Bridge, the longest bridge in Finland, and a magnificent scenery. When you reach the destination, you can admire the beautiful sea and unique moraine deposits from the Saltkaret observation tower.
Travel back in time in the ancient village of Stundars in Korsholm, and experience how people lived in a rural village in the 1900s. Located in Sulva, Stundars is one of the largest museums and culture centres in Finland. The museum consists of 60 buildings which have been relocated from Korsholm villages and from other parts of the Vaasa region. It features genuine traditional rural buildings, such as a village shop, school, farmhouse and different artisanal workshops. Stundars is open around the year. The museum features an annually changing theme, i.e. the year the museum lives and breathes. In 2017, Stundars represents the year 1917 to celebrate the centenary of the Finnish independence.
Tropiclandia, Zip Adventure Park, HopLop and Swingeling
Vaasa has a number of beaches close to the city centre. If it is cold outside, it is always summer at Tropiclandia, or you can head for the HopLop indoor adventure park on Meijerinkatu to climb and play. Swingeling, located in Sepänkylä, invites your whole family to play and have fun in the jungle of more than 1,000 m2. If you are into sports, try SUP boarding in Hietasaari or have an adventure amidst treetops at Zip Adventure Park.
Wasaline offers a beautiful and easy shortcut across Kvarken every day aboard m/s Wasa Express. The route from Vaasa to Umeå is the shortest sea route to Sweden and passes through the beautiful UNESCO world heritage site. Enjoy good food and a friendly atmosphere.
