Activities in Vaasa
UNESCO world heritage site
Vaasa offers various options for family holidays. Nature lovers will enjoy Korsholm where you can admire the famous Kvarken Archipelago, UNESCO's world heritage site and Finland's only nature heritage site. The breathtakingly beautiful route starts from the centre of Vaasa to the Svedjehamn harbour located in Björköby and to the world heritage site through the Replot Bridge, the longest bridge in Finland, and magnificent scenery. When you reach the destination, you can admire the beautiful sea and unique moraine deposits from the Saltkaret observation tower.
Travel back in time in the ancient village of Stundars in Korsholm, and experience how people lived in a rural village in the 1900s. Located in Sulva, Stundars is one of the largest museums and culture centres in Finland. The museum consists of 60 buildings which have been relocated from Korsholm villages and from other parts of the Vaasa region. It features genuine traditional rural buildings, such as a village shop, school, farmhouse and different artisanal workshops. Stundars is open around the year. The museum features an annually changing theme, i.e. the year in which the museum lives and breathes. In 2017, Stundars represents the year 1917 to celebrate the centenary of the Finnish independence.
