PAAVO TYNELL'S DESIGN LAMPS OFFER LIGHT TO OUR GUESTS
Original Sokos Hotel Vaakuna features art and design. We are especially proud of the lights designed by Paavo Tynell for the hotel. Most of these are still in use and can be admired by our hotel guests. These beautiful lamps have been manufactured by Taito Oy following the designs of Tynell.
From the 1930s to the 1950s, Paavo Tynell was one of the most popular designers of lights for public facilities in Finland. His best-known works include the lighting of Lasipalatsi, a functionalist building located next to Vaakuna, and the lamps of Finnish Parliament House. For example, famous Finnish architect Alvar Aalto worked closely with Tynell in interior and lighting design.
The warm and beautiful light in the lobby of Original Sokos Hotel Vaakuna, the restaurant lobby and restaurant Loiste comes from lamps designed by the internationally acclaimed Tynell.
