Original Sokos Hotel Alexandra is being modernised
Located in the heart of Jyväskylä, Original Sokos Hotel Alexandra is being modernised to offer more enjoyment with its own unique character. The hotel will be open throughout the modernisation but some rooms will be unavailable from the beginning of September. Make your reservations in good time!
The major modernisation of Osuuskauppa Keskimaa's Original Sokos Hotel Alexandra will begin after the summer holiday season.
"We want to offer even better experiences to our hotel guests. Our staff have raised our hotel's service culture to an excellent level. After this modernisation, our facilities will also match this level of quality," says general manager Hannu Nirkkonen, summarising the objective of the modernisation process.
"Functional and beautiful facilities form a perfect setting for our staff to win a place in our customers' hearts and show that we are worthy of their trust," Nirkkonen continues.
More space, enjoyment and functionality
Original Sokos Hotel Alexandra is located at the core of Jyväskylä centre, next to Jyväskylä Travel Centre and a marketplace to be built.
The modernisation process will start from the oldest section which will undergo a complete makeover. The hotel facade opening up towards Asemakatu will liven up the Jyväskylä cityscape, being yet another impressive attraction in the city of light.
Indoors, all hotel rooms will be modernised, emphasising space, enjoyment and functionality. At street level, the restaurant facilities of Gastropub Jalo will be fully renovated. Jalo will also have a glazed winter terrace.
The first phase will be completed by summer 2017, after which the process will continue in phases with the modernisation of other hotel rooms and restaurant Fransmanni. The hotel's conference rooms will also be developed.
Interior architect Kristiina Michelsson from Studio Arcibella will act as the interior designer. Michelsson is famous for public facilities where every customer feels they are the centre of attention.
General manager Hannu Nirkkonen emphasises that Original Sokos Hotel Alexandra will also be open during the entire modernisation.
"Construction work will be carried out so as to cause as little disturbance to our guests as possible. However, some hotel rooms will be unavailable from the beginning of September, so make your reservations in good time," he says.
