Breakfast at the Kaarle in Kokkola – a Sokos Hotel first in Steps to Organic programme
Original Sokos Hotel Kaarle's breakfast is the first Sokos Hotel breakfast to join the Steps to Organic programme.
The aim of the programme is to encourage professional kitchens to increase use of organic products and to take into account sustainable development in their operations. The programme has six levels through which the use of organic products will be increased. Kaarle's breakfats is currently at level three, which means that our kitchen uses at minimum two significant organic raw materials permanently and other organic products when possible.
Our summer restaurant, Mustakari, also joined the initiative simultaneously and is at the level three, because it uses permanently more organic products.
Summer restaurant Mustakari has for a long time preferred local products in its operations, so much so that some of the raw materials and flower decorations are grown in its own greenhouse.
