7.6.2021

Bomba's tourist resort in Nurmes offers a luxurious spa holiday, best pieces of the local culture and a wide selection of nature activities in a Karelian way. Spa hotel Break Sokos Hotel Bomba by lake Pielinen is the center for summer holiday guests.

Mysticism of the East in a high-class spa

Break Sokos Hotel Bomba with its spa locates in the midst of the stunning lake views. The hotel open ups to panoramic views of lake Pielinen and you can enjoy the view from the outside hot tub of the spa. Hotel manager Sanna Tenhunen confirms that it is exactly this view that impresses the guests the most. "The view is spectaculat. The beach starts right from the door of the spa. Guests can go for a swim in the lake directly from the deck of the spa", Tenhunen tells.

The spa was totally renovated in 2017 and it exudes the mysticism of Kalevala and the atmosphere changes according to the lighting throughout the day. In addition to the large pool area the spa has three different experience saunas; a Finnish sauna, Karelian sauna and a steam sauna. There is also a terrace outside of the spa with lounge chairs and two hot tubs. You can also go directly to the beach from the terrace. You can also play disc golf or go golfing on an actual golf course close-by.

Hotel rooms facing lake Pieline were refurbished this spring with light colours matching the surrounding nature. Nature photographs shot by the local photographer Asko Kuittinen can be seen in the rooms, hotel corridors as well as the renovated meeting spaces. Unique, loft style rooms are suited for both families with kids as well as for group of friends.

The Karelian village comes alive during summer

The Karelian village located next to the hotel consisting of log-built buildings comes alive during summer when the exhibitions, boutiques, restaurants and marketplace open up. The centre of the village is Bomba House - a replicate from the 1800-century log-house originally built in the Russian Karelia - is one of Finland's most known attractions.

The Bomba restaurant offers a summery buffet with Karelian delicates. A summer marketplace is outside and entertainment is offered by various events, concerts and a beer bar. The newest addition to the selection of Bomba House comes in two parts: an photo exhibition about life at border Karelia and journey of the evacuees which is produced by the Karelian Association.

You can also get to know the area with a virtual tour which consists of informational boards and videos through QR-codes which shows you the best pieces on the area.

National Parks and fishing trips

The hotel's main partnert Wild Nordic offers a wide selection of outside activities for both individual tourists but also through their weekly program. You can rent for example, e-Fatbikes, SUP boards, rowing boats, canoes and bikes. The weekly program offers activities from farm visits to fishing trips.

You can go hiking directly from your doorstep to a 6,5km lake side route to Ellunkota. Hiidenportti, Tiilikkajärvi and Koli National Parks are located only within 1 hour drive from Bomba.

"When you come to Bomba you don't have to go anywhere to experience your holiday mood or to find experiences. This is a holiday destination where you can stay even for a longer period of time, leave your car at the car parking area and focus on enjoying your holiday. Everything can be found on this area". Tenhunen summarises.
