Authentic Finnish Sauna Experience
The Sauna from Finland association has awarded the saunas for guests at Solo Sokos Hotel Paviljonki its Authentic Finnish Sauna Experience certificate. The certificate communicates that the sauna experience is thought-out and complete, and fulfils the core values of the Finnish sauna experience: authenticity, mindfulness, relaxation, cleanliness and wellbeing, as well as being a feast for all the senses. The certificate was awarded at the release event of the book, Sauna – the Way of Finnish life on 8 December 2016.
Located in Lutakon Aukio, the main event venue in Jyväskylä, the men's and women's sauna facilities at Hotel Paviljonki offer visitors the chance to admire the great vista opening over Jyväsjärvi lake whilst taking their sauna.
"The women's wellbeing sauna is open daily and the place to be pampered with different sauna care products, green tea and women's magazines. On the men's side, you can relax after your sauna with a game of cards or by watching an ice hockey match. Next to the sauna facilities, there is a well-lit gym equipped with the latest exercise machines, where you can work up a sweat before going for your sauna", says hotel manager Linda Rastela.
"Many hotels have sauna facilities, but their development has often been overshadowed by other services. The things that customers value in hotel saunas are clean, safe facilities and good supplementary services," says Carita Harju, executive director of Sauna from Finland. "The sauna experience is made up of those things that happen before, during and after bathing in the sauna, and it is clear that Solo Sokos Hotel Paviljonki, which opened in 2012, has a good framework, but these have been further improved and more elements to enhance relaxation have been introduced," says Harju.
According to Rastela, there has been a particular desire to highlight the genuine Finnish sauna experience in the sauna facilities and to promote Central Finland as the region of sauna. The sauna has been developed both in terms of interior design details and services – not forgetting individuality, in accordance with the Solo ideology and values. The sauna certificate is recognition of the work that has been done for the sauna experience. Solo Sokos Hotel Paviljonki is one of the first hotels in Finland to begin piloting different guides and products in the Finnish sauna experience.
The Authentic Finnish Sauna Experience certificate means that sauna lovers know they can expect the world's best Finnish sauna experience. The award communicates to guests and staff that the sauna experience is among the best in the world in terms of quality. The certificate is the result of many years of work in the field of quality done by the member associations of Sauna from Finland. The quality certificate can be applied for by anyone offering sauna services around the world. The certificate awarded to Solo Sokos Hotel Paviljonki is the third to be awarded to a hotel sauna experience. The other hotels to have received the certificate are Original Sokos Hotel Ilves in Tampere, and Original Sokos Hotel Arina in Oulu.
