Bomba, Nurmes, Pielinen, and all of North Karelia welcome you to spend your dream summer holiday. Bomba is a place where nature, culture, and relaxation meet in perfect balance. Here you'll experience authentic Karelian hospitality, diverse summer activities, and soothing lake scenery that makes everyday worries fade away. And best of all – you'll find all this conveniently right around the hotel.
1. Comfortable accommodation
At Bomba, we have accommodation to suit many tastes. Whether you want something easy and affordable or a more spacious room with your own sauna and lake view.
Our hotel rooms are located in the log row houses of the Karelian Village and in three different sections of the spa hotel: the forest wing, the main section, and the magnificent Lake Wing. The Karelian Village is located in front of Bomba House, about 500 m from the hotel. The Karelian Village offers affordable accommodation. It's easy to head out for outdoor activities from there, and you can park your car right next to it. In the same building as the spa, you'll find many different options whether you're traveling alone, as a couple, or with a larger group. The special feature of the Lake Wing's new rooms is the floor-to-ceiling panoramic windows, which offer stunning views of Lake Pielinen's ever-changing scenery. 2. Everything's more fun on a full stomach
Three restaurants on the hotel premises serve you and pamper your taste buds. The area's restaurants offer quality local food, Karelian delicacies, and modern North Karelian cuisine. Whether you have in mind a relaxed lunch, an atmospheric dinner, or a family treat, Bomba has the right option for every taste.
Frans & Emma brings France straight to your plate! Classic dishes are carefully prepared from scratch in our own kitchen, and there are also intriguing novelties on offer - stylish cocktails and quality drinks. Open daily during summer from 4:00 PM to 10:00 PM
Buolu - Cafe & Ristorante serves hungry holidaymakers right next to our hotel reception. The restaurant is open daily during summer from 12 PM to 10 PM. The restaurant's menu features delicious pizzas and burgers. For a smaller appetite or a treat moment, the restaurant's café display case is full of options. You can also enjoy Buolu restaurant's services in the magnificent lake scenery - on our Sun Terrace on the hotel's 2nd floor.
At Ravintola Bomba, we serve a generous country buffet made from local flavors. Ravintola Bomba is open throughout the summer from June 6 to August 8. The country buffet is available daily from 12 PM to 6 PM at €28.50/person, children 4-12 years at €1.50/year of age.
3. Get to know the area with a guide or go on your own adventure whenever it suits you
In the Bomba area, trips are organized and equipment is rented by Bomba Safaris Oy. You'll find the Safaris team right next to the hotel, at the Kaleva Hall Safari House.

Here you'll find a wide selection of rental equipment from canoes to fishing gear and bikes to electric scooters. Grab an electric-assist fatbike and pop out on a trip to Ellunkallio, for example, or rent a scooter and ride around to explore the historically valuable Puu-Nurmes wooden house area. 4. Peek into the sets of the Kalevala - The Story of Kullervo film
Did you know that the Kalevala - The Story of Kullervo film was largely shot in the Bomba area? Just a short distance from the hotel is the unique Kalevala Film Village, where you can dive into the world of Finnish mythology. 5. The spa is warm even on rainy days
At the stylish pool area of Spa Bomba, which exudes Kalevala mysticism, you can bathe in hot, cold, and whirlpool baths, and in the outdoor pools, the North Karelian nature opens up as if into your lap. In the sauna world, enjoy the warmth of the Kyly, Sampo, and Taivaankansi saunas and their unique atmosphere. In the spa's warmth and pampering whirlpools, everyday worries fade away. Bomba Safaris' bouncy castle fun offers an amazing opportunity to burn off energy. Board games and summer games are freely available to hotel guests. The beach is right next to the hotel, and of course, the spa is a delight for all ages. 7. Adults-only spa time, Valamo wine tasting, and Beer Cottage evenings
Are you traveling with adults only? Our spa has reserved quieter evenings just for adults. From Midsummer to the end of July, the spa is open every evening until 10 PM, and the last two hours are restricted to those over 18. Come enjoy the atmosphere and perhaps raise a glass of bubbly. The Beer Cottage is open June 6 - August 8 on Fridays and Saturdays from 6 PM to 2 AM
At the Beer Cottage, you can also taste Valamo's delicious berry wines when the Valamo wine tasting is held June 6 - August 8 on Fridays and Saturdays at 7 PM. Valamo wine tasting at €34/person (18+), reservations conveniently here
8. Golf by the shores of Pielinen
Pielis-Golf is located only about a kilometer from Bomba. Pielis-Golf's 9-hole golf course is situated in a beautiful location in the stunning shoreline landscapes of Pielinen. The large wilderness lake gives the course its own character; on a hot summer day, the course is refreshing, in windy weather challenging. For Break Sokos Hotel Bomba guests, Pielis-Golf playing rights are available at a discounted price with accommodation booking and from the hotel. Tickets become available for booking when you make a room reservation for summer.
9. The summer market comes alive for summer
The Bomba area breathes Karelian architectural style in every log, centered around Bomba House with its restaurants and heritage rooms. Come explore Karelian log construction and the area's atmosphere! Bomba's summer market is located right next to Bomba House and the Karelian Village. At the summer market, shops and a café serve visitors every day during summer. Welcome!
The Bomba market craft shop is open daily June 12 - August 30 from 12 PM to 6 PM.
Eila Jahn craft shop and flea market July 1 - August 2 from 11 AM to 5 PM
Summer café open June 15-18 Mon-Sat from 11 AM to 4 PM and Sun from 12 PM to 3 PM. The summer café features an exhibition by Nurmes artist Alma Pääkkönen. The exhibition displays Kalevala-themed works.
10. Culture invites you to stay longer
At Bomba's summer theater, a musical play about the Kalevala and Karelian culture is performed June 26 - July 5. Read more here.
Many events are organized in the Bomba area and in Nurmes throughout the year - especially during summer, there's a lot happening here. You should definitely check out at least: Valtimo Summer Day Rock, Drive-In & Rock, and Nurmes Summer Music. And it's no distance at all from us to the nearby area's great events either, such as Lieksa Brass Week and Kuhmo Chamber Music.
