Sights and things to do in summer in Seinäjoki
In the major event city of Seinäjoki, there's plenty of interesting things to see and do in addition to your hotel stay. We've gathered a few of our tips here!
Summer is a beautiful time to enjoy summer experiences, nature, or various cultural attractions.
Summer Experiences
- Takalan Kotieläinpiha is located in the yard of a rural animal clinic by the Nurmojoki river, in a pleasant rural setting.
- Liikennepuistossa children under 12 can learn traffic rules and experience the joy of pedal car driving safely. Fiilispuisto is a free game equipment lending facility open to everyone, located next to Liikennepuisto. You can go there to play and enjoy various games and activities.
- Seinäjoki also has a comprehensive selection of different playgrounds, and right near the hotel in Lakeudenpuisto there's a skate park!
- Seinäjoki also has several swimming beaches.
- Seinäjoki's summer event season is full of tips for all kinds of tastes. In summer, you can enjoy festivals, markets, and sports events.
Culture
- Seinäjoki museums: for example, the South Ostrobothnia Museum in the Törnävä area tells comprehensively about the history of South Ostrobothnia and Seinäjoki, the Civil Guard and Lotta Svärd Museum in the city center introduces the activities of civil guards, Lottas, and Jaegers, and the Hospital Museum at Törnävän Piiri presents the history of South Ostrobothnian healthcare.
- Aalto-keskus is a place worth visiting, full of architecture. Seinäjoki's Aalto-keskus consists of six buildings designed by Alvar Aalto: Lakeuden Risti, Aalto Library, Theatre House, Parish Center, City Hall, and State Office Building.
- The art and cultural center Kalevan Navetta is a unique home for art and culture. The 130-year-old red brick barn building brings together contemporary art exhibitions as well as art and handicraft courses under its high roof.
Sports and Playgrounds
- Ruuhikoski Golf offers excellent conditions for players of all levels. Ruuhikoski golf course blends elegantly into the Ostrobothnian river landscape. The course was designed by internationally renowned Robert Trent Jones Jr.
- You can play mini golf at Seinäjoki camping area and at Seinäjoki Bowling Hall!
- There are several disc golf courses in beautiful landscapes.
- Epop Wake Seinäjoki offers diverse water sports experiences, including cable water skiing (wakeboarding) and SUP boarding. The water sports center is located on the sheltered pond at Tanelinranta, right near Seinäjoki.
- Seinäjoki is known as a diverse sports city, but in addition, the city has an unparalleled network of exercise routes. Jouppilanvuori terrain is the largest outdoor area where you can, among other things, circle around Lake Kyrkösjärvi.
- Fitness trails and nature routes can be found for exercisers of all levels. Additionally, there are about ten lean-to shelters in Seinäjoki's core area that don't need to be reserved separately.
- South Ostrobothnia is a wonderful destination for hikers who want to enjoy the peace of nature, diverse hiking routes, and good services.
- For sports fans, Seinäjoki has activities in many different sports, even at championship level. You should definitely check out at least the floorball pages of SPV and Nurmon Jymy, as well as the match schedules of volleyball team Jymy Volley.
- Leo's indoor playground has plenty to explore, and there's no rush to leave. Activity spots throughout the park offer suitable activities for both toddlers and energetic schoolchildren.
- Duudsonit Activity Park is a year-round active fun place that offers versatile facilities for tricks and stunts. At Duudsonit Activity Park, the whole family can spend relaxed time together. It's easy to have fun indoors every day of the year.
Nearby Areas
- Wanha Markki is a retirement home for animals located in Ylistaro, about 30 km from the hotel. Lovely elderly animals and younger ones too can be met and petted in the yard. The host couple has renovated the Ostrobothnian farmyard to its former glory, so there's also other things to admire and experience in the area.
- Jokilaakson matkailupuutarha in Lapua is a popular garden tourism destination and recreation area in Lapua city center, less than 30 km from the hotel.
- Ähtäri Zoo is a top destination for children just over 80 km from the hotel, but adults enjoy it too. A walking trip in nature watching animals is really nice and relaxing.
- Flowpark Ähtäri zoo is an ecological adventure park right next to the zoo, where you can test your courage. The adventure courses are built in living trees without damaging them. There are various levels of high rope courses including swinging paths, liana jumps, swings, and zip lines.
- In the Ähtäri direction, you'll also find Keskisen Kyläkauppa, which is Finland's largest department store. Between shopping, there's plenty to see and experience for all ages. During summer, the yard also features a carnival-type amusement park Miljoona Tivoli, which is free for children under 13!
- The amusement state PowerPark is an imaginative world for fun-seekers of all ages and sizes, about 60 km from the hotel. In addition to the amusement park, the amusement state includes two karting tracks, a movie theater, a mini golf course, and a shopping center!
