Experience the mythic Finland

Discover Karelian Hospitality and the Mystique of Finland’s National Epic, Kalevala
The Bomba resort area blends rich Karelian culture, modern comfort, and the pure beauty of Finnish nature, from bright summer nights to the glow of the Northern Lights. The resort is located on the shores of Lake Pielinen, Finland’s fourth largest lake, offering breathtaking scenery in every season.
Right by the lake stands Break Sokos Hotel Bomba – Lake View Wing, where every room offers stunning views over Lake Pielinen. The interior design combines Karelian traditions with a modern twist, creating a warm and inviting space for both relaxation and nature-based activities.
At the heart of the Bomba resort area lies the jewel of the Karelian village: the unique Bomba House, an authentic replica of a 19th-century Karelian farmhouse. Today, it serves as a restaurant where guests can enjoy modern Karelian cuisine made from local ingredients. The restaurant was awarded the Chaîne des Rôtisseurs plaque last year in recognition of its high-quality cuisine and Karelian hospitality.
Adding to the experience, Bomba introduces an exciting new highlight for 2026, a Film Village inspired by the Finnish epic Kalevala. The film Kalevala: The Story of Kullervo, directed by Antti J. Jokinen, was filmed in the Bomba area and the surrounding nature of Upper Karelia. Now, original sets and selected props remain on site, inviting visitors to step behind the scenes and experience the world of Kalevala where myth and cinema meet. In the Film Village, groups can enjoy immersive dinners and activities in a unique mythical atmosphere in the heart of Finnish nature.
Indulge Your Senses in a Karelian Spa Paradise
The Spa Bomba offers a truly memorable experience. Its beautifully lit pool area invites you to relax in hot and cold pools, whirlpools, saunas and sensory showers, while enjoying panoramic views of Lake Pielinen and the surrounding hills. The spa provides direct access to the lakeshore, and its carefully designed details reflect Kalevala-inspired mysticism, creating a unique and calming atmosphere.
