July: Time to Enjoy and Unwind
July 3rd – July 4th: Wife Carrying World Championships
The championships and the accompanying market take place in the center of Sonkajärvi, near the local sports hall.
July 7th – August 9th: Koljonvirta Theatre: Keeping Up Appearances (Pokka pitää)
The final installment of this beloved play trilogy brings the grand finale of the rural comedy series to the stage. Originally written by Heikki Luoma and Jukka Mäkinen for TV2, this series is a national favorite. Directed by Tom Petäjä, the play features familiar faces from the Koljonvirta Theatre ensemble.
July 10th – July 11th: Oluset Festival
The iconic Oluset Festival returns with a fresh look as the highlight of the Iisalmi summer. For two days in early July, the Luuniemi field will be filled with celebrations, top-tier Finnish artists, and great food and drink.
July 15th – July 19th: Schlager Music Week
Iskelmäviikko is a massive schlager music festival held in Kiuruvesi, featuring an extensive lineup of artists. The "Iskelmä Bus" runs from Wednesday to Saturday, taking you directly from Iisalmi to the IskelmäArena. The bus departs from the Matkahuolto station, located right next to the hotel.

August 7th – August 8th: RunniRock
It’s time to party at Luuniemi!
August 1st: Louhenkatu Day
During Louhenkatu Day, the best shops, businesses, and local operators from Iisalmi and the Upper Savo region gather together on the streets of Iisalmi!
August 14th: Pohjolankatu 80s Friday Pohjolankatu’s 80s Friday celebrates its 10th anniversary this year. Come and watch as the streets fill with joyful party-goers and classic cars, just like in the 1980s.
August 16th: Mansikkaniemi – Pop and Picnic
A relaxed outdoor event for the whole family, "Mansikkaniemi – Pop and Picnic" is held in the lovely summer theatre and museum area on Sunday, August 16th, starting at 3:00 PM. This year’s headliner is the wonderful ILTA.
