The hotel was the first western hotel in Tallinn and has seen quite a lot of the history. (There is even an interesting museum from the KGB of Soviet Union, interesting!) It has been renovated several times and is again in good shape. At least the business class room was nice and comfortable with slippers, bath coat an a quick wifi. Or room was in 22nd floor and the view was wonderful, both to the old town and to the boat harbour.
The included breakfast was also good (even gluten free bread). The checking both in and out went nicely and quickly on our visit. Nothing to complaint!

Customer feedback
Amazing location, amazing service, amazing views. I had a very comfortable, business class room on the 18th floor, and the views to Tallinn's centre and port, to the North, were just magnificent. Hotel is just outside the gate to the gorgeous historic centre of the city and 10min walk from the port of Tallinn. It has also everything you need, as it includes a shopping centre, restaurants, bars and a night club. Breakfast has everything you need too. I also enjoyed the concert in the night club that was included for free in my booking! Enjoyed the KGB museum and karaoke too. Overall a great stay, perhaps a reason to come back to Tallinn in itself! I include 2 photos of the view of the room; as always, photos might take a couple of days to upload, so check again later.
This is the absolute best place to stay in Tallinn. Centrally located with amazing views from the room!!! And top of all this .. This hotel has 3 different restaurants 2 pubs and a great nightclub (entrance free for guests) .. and 3 minute walk to Old town ... The best Mall (shopping center) is right next to it and can be accessed through the hotel reception... Staff were extremely helpful!! Receptionists day and night were absolutely wonderful !! Either Estonians are naturally great people or hotel trained them excellent!! BTW there is sumptuous free breakfast !!
I have been to Tallinn several times but this was first time I stayed in Hotel Viru. The hotel in most traditional and first western hotel in Tallinn. It is a huge landmark in the heart of the city. The location could not be better! It is located by the Viru mall and beside old town. The staff was very polite and helpful.
The room was big and clean. The room has an atmosphere of old times and it can look a little bit old fashioned but it is still very cosy. It was the only hotel in Tallinn in 70´s and so it is very famous and legendary specially for the Finns. We even visited KGB-museum on top floor. It was interesting and quite funny.
Our room was on 17. floor and the views was amazing! The windows were towards old town and the sea. The breakfast was good thus there was a big rush on Easter morning.
There are a pub, restaurant Amarillo and a famous nightclub in the hotel. All in all good hotel!
