The High-Rise King will once again be crowned at Hotel Viru

On 10 September, the traditional firefighters’ stair race “High-Rise King” will take place at Original Sokos Hotel Viru for the 27th time.

The competitors’ task is to reach the hotel’s 22nd floor as quickly as possible, climbing approximately 440 steps while carrying nearly 20 kilograms of firefighting equipment. The competition puts their speed, endurance and ability to perform under physically demanding conditions to the test.

Organised by the Estonian Rescue Board, the competition is attended mainly by firefighters and fire sport athletes, among whom this year’s holder of the coveted High-Rise King title will be crowned. Over the years, the event has become a valued tradition, bringing Estonia’s toughest firefighters to the staircases of Hotel Viru.
