Shopping, outdoors and culture

Outdoor life and culture

The uniquely beautiful Lake Saimaa is just a stone’s throw from the hotel. It offers wonderful opportunities for outdoor activities, even in autumn. Along the lakeside trail, you’ll also find an outdoor gym.

Within walking distance from the hotel is the Wolkoff House Museum, which tells the story of a local merchant family. In the historic fortress area, you can enjoy a peaceful atmosphere. The oldest Orthodox church in Finland and three museums — the South Karelia Museum, the South Karelia Art Museum, and the Cavalry Museum — are also located in the fortress.

If your visit falls on a weekday, we recommend lunch at Kehruuhuone restaurant in the Fortress. Its charming setting and delicious food are sure to impress! Kehruuhuone’s history as a women’s prison in the 1800s adds a unique twist to the experience.

Great Coffee and Craft Beers

Café Majurska in the Fortress and the adjacent Tyyki boutique offer a delightful experience with handmade products and cozy café treats. At the tip of the harbor, Satamatie 6 is home to the award-winning Lehmus Roastery café and factory shop. If you're lucky, you might witness coffee being roasted in their stunning black roaster!

At Tuju Taproom in Rakuunamäki, you can taste fantastic craft beers with hilariously fun names — perfect souvenirs to take home!

Relaxation and Sauna - also by the Lake

Our hotel’s sauna area is like a small spa. The large swimming pool is a joy, especially for children. Fitness enthusiasts can enjoy our compact gym, which is free for hotel guests.

If you’re looking to enjoy a lakeside sauna and take a refreshing dip in Lake Saimaa, the Myllysaari sauna just a few kilometers from the hotel offers a truly memorable experience!

The hotel team warmly welcomes you to Lappeenranta!
