For the romantic: a walk in Tallinn
For those hungry for romance, we recommend the enchantingly beautiful Tallinn. You quickly forget about everyday life when walking hand in hand in the old town with its numerous tempting cafes and restaurants. The city has plenty of historical gems to explore, such as Kadriorg Park, Toompea Castle, Alexander Nevsky Cathedral and the Town Hall Square. The Patkuli observation deck offers a magnificent view of old Tallinn.
For children and the childlike
Winter vacation can be the best time. And it can be enjoyed in Flamingo in Vantaa. Here you will find a water park, glow bowling or the entire family, laser adventures and a wide variety of games. Movies, shops, and restaurants are within an elevator ride's reach from the hotel. And when visiting Vantaa, you should visit Heureka, the Finnish Science Centre.
Another perfect destination for children is Rovaniemi, where it's always Christmas! The Angry Birds Activity Park offers several hours of outdoor activities. It is also worth visiting Arktikum, Korundi and Science Centre Pilke, which can be found near the city centre. Bring your skis, as snow and ski tracks await you.
For Northern Lights hunters
For someone living in the south, the Northern Lights are a rare and wonderful experience. When you go hunting for Auroras, we recommend that you visit Koli, Tahko, Rovaniemi or Levi. There are several online services that forecast the visibility of Northern Lights, such as the Space Weather Centre RWC Finland or the Finnish Meteorological Institute's Space and Earth Observation .You can also ask the reception to be woken up in the event of Aurora Borealis at night.
The shopaholic's winter holiday
No Finnish city has as many shopping centres as Helsinki – and with the country's most functional public transport, it can be called a shopper's paradise. Here you will also find specialty shops and idyllic brick-and-mortar stores. Head for quick bargains or tour the city with time on your hands and a shopping list. You can rest your feet in numerous cafes and restaurants. Should you get bored with shopping, Helsinki has an endless number of sights.
