Satakunnan Osuuskauppa is expanding Original Sokos Hotel Vaakuna in Pori
The expansion will add 52 new hotel rooms and strengthen Pori's position as a travel and event city.
Satakunnan Osuuskauppa has decided to launch an expansion project for Original Sokos Hotel Vaakuna Pori. The investment aims to meet the growing demand for accommodation and strengthen Pori's position as an attractive travel, event and conference city.
In the project, the office premises located at Gallen-Kallelankatu 8 next to the hotel will be demolished and replaced with a new hotel wing. Construction work will begin in August 2026 with demolition, and the project is scheduled to be completed by summer 2027.
The total investment for the expansion is approximately five million euros. The expansion project continues the long-term development that has been carried out at the hotel in recent years.
Currently, Original Sokos Hotel Vaakuna Pori has 137 rooms. The expansion will add 52 new rooms to the hotel, increasing capacity by approximately 110 beds. Of the new rooms, one is a suite and five are superior rooms, with the rest mainly being standard double rooms.
– The expansion is an important investment for us, enabling us to meet growing demand and serve our customers even better. At the same time, we are strengthening Pori's position as an attractive travel and event city, says hotel manager Jussi Lampinen.
Pori's diversifying event offerings, business development and tourism growth are increasing the need for quality accommodation capacity. The expansion supports tourism growth and enables the organization of even larger events as well as conference and corporate functions.
