Karelian hospitality and mysticism of Kalevala

Bomba is a unique travel destination in Nurmes, North Karelia. In recent years, Bomba has become a popular holiday destination, and at this spa hotel, your holiday always includes a touch of Karelian mystique. Tulgua terveh!

An enchanting holiday by the waters and hills

Bomba is a combination of Karelian culture, holiday luxury and Finnish nature from the embracing summer to the splendor of the northern lights. Bomba tourist area is located on the shore of the magnificent Pielinen, which is Finland's fourth largest lake. The jewel of the area's Karelian village is the unique Bomban Talo, which is an exact replica of a Karelian peasant house that stood in Suojärvi in the 1800s. The impressive building serves as a restaurant, offering visitors modern Karelian flavors made from local ingredients.

Located right on the shore of Pielinen, the spa hotel Break Sokos Hotel Bomba's Lake Wing offers stunning views from all rooms, and their interior design honors Karelian heritage with a modern twist. The rooms provide perfect settings for both relaxation and active holidays in the heart of nature.

Bomba's 2026 novelty is a film village that has risen next to the Karelian village. Antti J. Jokinen's film Kalevala: Kullervon tarina, which premiered in January, was filmed in the Bomba area and in natural locations in Upper Karelia. Pohjois-Karjalan Osuuskauppa PKO was the film's main partner, and the sets and some of the props remained at Bomba for tourists and locals to admire. Groups can enjoy experience dinners and theme-appropriate activities in the Kalevala village. Read more about this here.

Pamper your senses in a Karelian spa paradise

Spa Bomba's beautifully lit, stylish pool area features hot, cold and whirlpool baths with views of Pielinen and the hill landscape beyond. The adventure spa has direct access to the shore of Pielinen, and the details evoking Kalevala mystique create a unique atmosphere. The spa's sauna world includes the Karelian Kyly sauna, the Finnish Sampo sauna and the Taivaankansi steam sauna, where you can easily spend an hour or two, refreshing yourself in the experience showers in between.

Welcome to beautiful North Karelia!
