Turun Seurahuone takes sustainability seriously! The hotel has been awarded both the Green Key environmental certificate and the Sustainable Travel Finland (STF) label. Our hotel is committed to operating in an environmentally friendly and sustainable manner, starting with small everyday actions.

Green Key is an international eco-label that promotes sustainable tourism principles. Hotel's that have the certificate are required to act sustainably and it requires us to follow and fill in certain criteria. Our actions are measured yearly and audited every other year. The Green Key -certificate is a sign that we aim to provide a more sustainable way to travel and are committed to improving our processes to be more sustainable.

The Sustainable Travel Finland label, under Visit Finland, is a tool and designation guiding companies toward sustainable development in all areas of their operations, continually enhancing their practices. Companies awarded the STF label have considered ecological, social, cultural, and economic sustainability in their operations.

Ecological Sustainability

Ecological sustainability at Turun Seurahuone is reflected in room technology and daily cleaning practices. For example, we use water-saving restrictors in faucets and showers to control flow and prefer local providers for laundry services. The property's lighting is designed to operate energy-efficiently, exclusively using LED fixtures. Electricity in each room is activated by a room card, and lighting is designed to be practical and pleasant for our guests. We have minimized the use of plastic in our daily operations, opting only for paper bags and biodegradable disposable dishes and utensils when necessary. Our restaurant, Gunnar, strives to use organic and local products, as does our delightful Solo breakfast. When seeking partners, we always try to prioritize local producers and businesses.

We aim to minimize paper consumption in our daily routines and recycle waste efficiently. Guests also have the opportunity to sort waste generated during their stay into the recycling bins provided in their rooms. To conserve water, guests can reuse towels, as interim cleaning is performed only upon request.

We encourage our guests to explore our charming city either on foot or by borrowing bicycles from reception during the summer season. We are also happy to assist with public transportation. We actively strive to improve and develop our sustainability efforts to ensure a better tomorrow for everyone!
