Sokos Hotels - Mission to Make People Happy
Here are Original Sokos Hotel Kupittaa's Acts of Happiness from 2025
Angel at Breakfast
A woman came to breakfast with a walker. Her husband had already eaten earlier. Eija asked if she could help, to which the lady responded affirmatively with thanks.
Eija helped the lady get drinks and desserts to the table. Before they left the hotel, the lady came specifically to thank her for the good service. The lady praised Eija as a mind reader and an angel. Eija wished her a good journey home. A wonderful customer encounter!
Turku's Best Pea Soup
A lunch customer came to tell us that he has acid reflux and cannot eat vegetables unless they are peeled. Previously, cucumber had been peeled for him, but he mentioned in passing that he loves bell peppers and tomatoes, but unfortunately, we don't have them in our salad bar. This time, we peeled cucumber, bell pepper, and tomato for him and brought it as a serving to his table.
The customer was really satisfied with this small gesture and came to thank us after the meal. At the same time, he mentioned that even though he shouldn't eat pea soup, he always has to taste a little because our pea soup is, if not the best in Finland, then the best in all of Turku!
Happiness on the Onni Bus
One weekend, a bus driver who was transporting a sports team from Kuopio noticed late on Saturday that all his luggage had been left here with us in Turku. He called the night shift worker at reception, and they agreed to see what could be done in the morning, as there were very important items among his belongings, and the sooner they could be sent to Kuopio, the better.
Taija came for the morning shift and noticed that packages could be sent directly to Kuopio on the Onni bus. The customer bought a ticket for his belongings, sent us the information, and the items were delivered the same evening. Taija took the belongings to the Turku bus station in her own car. The customer was really satisfied and thanked us separately by email for our level of customer service!
Anniversary
A couple who was celebrating their 15th wedding anniversary stayed at the hotel. They were brought some small snacks and sparkling wine to their room in honor of the celebration.
A Tiny Little Cap
A small boy had left his cap with us in the summer, but the customer never returned to ask if they wanted the cap sent by mail. I couldn't bear to send it to the lost and found office, so I put it in the mail with a couple of lollipops. A few days later, a picture message arrived on our phone showing the boy happily wearing his cap again with a sweet tooth!
Valtteri's Overnight Oats
Valtteri made another amazing act of happiness! A customer praised our breakfast overnight oats to the reception, which Valtteri had made. It was apparently by far the best overnight oats he had ever eaten. He really hoped to get Valtteri's "wildly secret" blueberry overnight oats recipe so he could make it at home. Reception passed the message to Rousku, who forwarded it to Valtteri, and Valtteri sent the recipe to the customer all the way to Britain where this customer was from!
Unforgettable Proposal
First, Aleksandra's message: "I forgot to mention that tomorrow morning a customer would like to reserve a table for his sister at around 9:30. The sister will be surprised with a proposal. They would like to reserve a table, hope for red petals ready on the table, the person making the reservation will come in the morning to discuss this further."
This worked out beautifully but not quite as planned. The day in question was full of table reservations, and everyone thought that the "couple" arriving at 9:30 was THE couple and the proposal would happen soon. That morning, Tove had decorated the table with petals and chocolates, and there was a small carnation bouquet on the table. Everyone thought it was quite a quiet affair, but in the small rush, we didn't stay to watch the event. An hour after this reservation, the sister of the person being proposed to arrived and said, "Oh, someone else is sitting at the table, and you have so many people." (It was 10:30 and breakfast ends at 11). All spaces were full, so the proposal was moved to Kuppis Rooftop bar.
Others continued cleaning up breakfast while Suvi headed to Kuppis. The sister of the person being proposed to said she would bring the flowers and the ring to the table and film the event. The sister hid on the terrace for a moment, and soon the elevator door opened. Suvi guided the couple to a table at Kuppis, opened the door for the sister, and gave the man the flowers with the ring on top, which he then presented to his future wife. Even Suvi shed a tear as the surprise was a great success. Finally, they got atmospheric pictures with a stunning view in the background.
