NATIONAL PARKS - THE BEST OF FINLAND

Break Sokos Hotel Vuokatti is an excellent base when you want to explore even several National Parks. There are many parks nearby, and you can take either a full-day trip or just a few hours' hike to them.

Vuokatinvaara

Eino Leino and Sapporo are Vuokatti's most beautiful hiking routes. The routes run along the top of Vuokatinvaara and are demanding in difficulty.

Hiidenportti National Park

The Hiidenportti gorge and rocky landscape are a stunning sight in the heart of the wilderness region. The gorge's rock walls drop vertically up to twenty meters, and magnificent views open up from its edges. Route recommendation: Hiidenkierros, circular route 3-5 km. The route is demanding in places. Hiidenportti is approximately 50 km from Vuokatti.

The Finland100 anniversary year National Park Hossa is located approximately 200 km from Vuokatti. Hossa is a versatile day trip destination that offers plenty of maintained routes with rest areas and breathtaking landscapes. The area also has accessible routes with services.

Route recommendation: Värikallio Loop, circular route 8 km. A viewing platform built over the water enables viewing of Värikallio's historical rock paintings dating back to the Stone Age from just a few meters away. The route is moderate to demanding.

Tiilikkajärvi National Park

The long and continuous pine ridge crossing the Tiilikkajärvi area is interrupted by Lake Tiilikka, surrounded by sandy beaches.

The beautiful sandy beach of Venäjänhiekka is the area's most popular hiking destination. The routes in Tiilikkajärvi National Park are easy to navigate, route recommendation: Uitto Loop, circular route 7 km. The distance to the national park from Vuokatti is 78 km.

Elimyssalo Nature Reserve

Elimyssalo is a mosaic-like combination of lichen-covered spruce swamps, bogs, and small water bodies. There you can experience the feeling of wilderness and encounter the forest reindeer that has returned from across the border. Distance from Vuokatti approximately 124 km. Route recommendation: Saari-Kiekki-Levävaara, 1.5 km. The route is easy to navigate, and at Levävaara farm, hikers are greeted in summer by sheep tending the yard meadow.
