Green Key Sustainability Certificate

Green Key is an international environmental certificate that promotes sustainable tourism. To receive the certificate, an organization must meet strict criteria based on the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals. These practical criteria include requirements related to reducing environmental impact, increasing social benefits, and supporting the local economy, while taking into account the specific characteristics of the tourism industry.

Green Key is also a sustainability program: participating companies commit to continuous improvement and report annually as part of the renewal application. The program provides participants with personal guidance, training, and communication materials. The quality of operations is verified through regular on-site audits. The certificate is granted by an external, independent Green Key jury.

Sustainable Travel Finland Label

The Sustainable Travel Finland label is a recognition of valuable and long-term work for sustainable tourism. Sustainable Travel Finland is Visit Finland’s sustainable tourism program, which considers ecological, sociocultural, and economic sustainability. The program offers a sustainable development toolkit that helps systematically integrate sustainable practices and choices into the daily operations of a region or business.

Companies and destinations that complete the program and meet the criteria are awarded the Sustainable Travel Finland label, which communicates sustainable practices to travelers. Those who receive the label gain access to a continuous development model and the latest information related to sustainable tourism development.
