Accessibility at Original Sokos Hotel Arina

Our hotel offers five accessible rooms. Each room includes two separate beds and two armchair sofas that can be converted into beds for two additional guests.

Accessible Services

The main entrance to Original Sokos Hotel Arina (Pakkahuoneenkatu 16) is not fully accessible, as it features a revolving door. The door has a button-operated slow mode, and our staff can stop and lock it in the open position to allow fully accessible entry. There is a small ramp in front of the door with a maximum slope of approximately 8.6 degrees. The street in front of the hotel, Pakkahuoneenkatu, is threshold-free at the hotel entrance.

The hotel’s parking garage is located around the corner at Isokatu 18. An accessible parking space near the elevator can be reserved free of charge no later than the day before arrival. Reservations can be made by phone (+358 8 3123 111) or email (reception.sokoshotelarina@sok.fi). There is one door between the parking garage and the elevator, with a threshold of a few centimeters. The elevator provides accessible access to the reception.

The reception desk is equipped with a hearing loop for guests using hearing aids. It eliminates background noise, echo, and interference. The loop is marked with stickers on the desk.

Our guest elevators feature voice guidance and floor numbers in Braille.

Accessible toilets are available in the Frans & Camille and Amarillo restaurants. Frans & Camille is accessible from the hotel reception. Amarillo and the VENN wine bar are accessible via their main entrances, not directly from the hotel reception.

Regular accessibility audits are conducted at the hotel in cooperation with our partners.

Accessible Rooms

Five accessible rooms are located on the Rotuaari side of the hotel. Each room includes two separate beds and two armchair sofas that can be converted into beds. The room size is approximately 31.5 m².

The door width is 80 cm. The bathroom door has a 3 cm threshold with a ramp, and the room door has a 2 cm threshold.

The bathroom is equipped with accessibility features and includes shower chairs without backrests. A toilet seat riser is available upon request.

Breakfast

The breakfast restaurant Veranta is located on the 3rd floor. There are a few steps at the entrance, but a SwingOn elevator (manufacturer: Cibes Lift Ab) is available next to the stairs. The elevator is suitable for electric wheelchair users (max load 150 kg). An accessible toilet is available in Veranta.

The buffet counters are not lowered, but staff are happy to assist with retrieving breakfast items. As the breakfast area is not fully accessible, guests using wheelchairs may request complimentary in-room breakfast upon check-in.

Guest Sauna

The saunas are located on floor -1.

Women’s sauna:

• Dressing room door width: 75 cm, threshold: 3 cm
• Toilet door width: 80 cm, threshold: 3 cm
• Threshold between dressing room and shower area: 3 cm
• Sauna door width: 88 cm, bench step height: 36 cm
• Shower partitions: 100 cm wide

Men’s sauna:

• Dressing room door width: 75 cm, threshold: 3 cm
• Toilet door width: 80 cm, threshold: 3 cm
• Door between dressing room and shower area: 80 cm wide
• Bench step height: 27 cm

Sauna facilities are not accessible for wheelchair users. A shower chair can be delivered to the sauna upon request.

Meeting Rooms

Meeting rooms are accessible via Kauppakeskus Valkea, located at the corner of the hotel. The shopping center’s elevator provides direct access to the meeting floor (4th floor).

Gym and Playroom

The gym and playroom are located on the 2nd floor at the end of a staircase, but they are accessible via a platform lift.
