HOTEL LIFE FOR 150 YEARS

The story of Puijonsarvi started as far back as in 1873, when Kuopion Seurahuone restaurant opened its doors on Maaherrankatu. Almost immediately, the restaurantturned into “the place to be” and a social hub for Kuopiobased artists, writers and army officers. The writers Minna Canth, Juhani Aho and Eino Leino were a few names among the guests creating Seurahuone’s unique atmosphere. Theatre performances were held on the restaurant’s own stage, and Seurahuone’s balls were always the talk of the town.

The historical wooden building is still a place for coming together and celebrating, now under the name Puikkari Conference. The quiet groans of the floor

our talented chefs create amazing delicacies for our guests. The stories of the house of thousands of events continue on!

A CORNUCOPIA OF HOTEL EXPERIENCES

Over the decades, Hotel Puijonsarvi has expanded into five different buildings, on both sides of the street. The kitchen staff of Restaurant Ehta cook up the best burgers in town. Restaurant Frans & Sophie serves up a slice of France right in the heart of the city, usually known for its local Kalakukko fish pies. Our lobby is like a comfortable living room where guests can enjoy craft beers from local breweries, wines from the ‘Old World’ or drinks made with the products of the local Lignell & Piispanen distillery. The hotel sauna above the rooftops of Kuopio is a place for relaxation, while the hotel gym lets you clear your mind.

We also have several different themes available for rooms. Perhaps you would prefer the sophisticated appearance of our Art Nouveau building or the rooms reflecting Kuopio’s industrial history? Or would you like to enjoy the light atmosphere of the Kuopio Tanssii ja Soi wing dedicated to the Kuopio Dance Festival? Or you could always choose an inviting room in our main building. Baths, saunas, park views, art experiences – our rooms are so fascinating you might find it hard to leave.
