Right next door, within a walking distance

  • Finland’s most sympathetic amusement park Tykkimäki and Aquapark are the absolute favourites of families with children.
  • The Käyrälampi beach with its docks, beach volleyball courts and outdoor gyms invites you to have a good time all day long.

Only a 15-minute drive away

  • The Tykkimäki Actionpark indoor activity park offers adventures all year round.
  • The Mielakka ski centre should be kept in mind during both the summer and winter seasons. In the summer, Mielakka attracts mountain bikers, and in the winter, downhill skiers and snowboarders. The scenery over Kouvola is also worth seeing!
  • The exhibitions of the Poikilo museums in Kouvola satisfy the hunger for culture.
  • The rugged factory milieu of Kuusankoski Taideruukki with its shops and exhibitions is something that you need experience yourself!

About a half-hour drive away

  • The Verla Mill Museum is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. In the 19th century factory milieu, you can get to the beginning of the Finnish forest industry.
  • Arboretum Mustila is the oldest and largest arboretum in Finland. In June, the arboretum’s colourful splendour is at its most spectacular, with hundreds of rhododendrons and azaleas blooming.
  • In the Ankkapurha Culture Park, you can get a view of the old manor culture and industrial heritage. The history of the Anjala Manor dates back to the 17th century, the Ankkapurha Industrial Museum lets you study the development of the forest industry, and the Tehtaanmäki area in Inkeroinen, designed by Alvar Aalto, is a rare gem of architecture.

About a 40–50-minute drive

  • The Repovesi National Park to the north of Kouvola can also be reached by train during the summer season. The campfire sites with firewood are available all year round.
  • At the Aeronautica event centre in Pyhtää, you can try a wild wind tunnel, indoor surfing or games at the VR game arena.
  • The Valkmusa National Park in Pyhtää offers a piece of Lapland in Kymenlaakso. An undrained open bog is a rare sight in Southern Finland.
  • In Kotka, Maritime Centre Vellamo with its exhibitions is a unique architectural site. On the same trip, we also recommend visiting the Maretarium aquarium centre.
