Green Key is an international eco-label for operators in the hospitality business which promotes sustainable travel. Tykkimäki Resort is committed to increasing the environmental awareness of staff and customers, saving energy and water, and reducing the environmental load of accommodation operations.

Sustainable Travel Finland (STF) is a national sustainable travel programme managed by Visit Finland. It takes a comprehensive view of the ecological, sociocultural and economic aspects of sustainability.

Both certificates are assessed on a regular basis. They are a tangible demonstration of our commitment to sustainable tourism.

We use local products and raw materials

In our restaurant, environmental friendliness is reflected in the selection of local food, organic food and seasonal vegetarian food. We want to make sustainable choices easy for you while providing great culinary experiences. We also invest in local operations and local products by acquiring flowers, plants and firewood from operators in the surrounding region.

We choose ecological products

We use eco-labelled detergents for cleaning. In cleaning work, we use water and chemicals sparingly, without compromising on cleanliness.

We operate in an energy-saving way

We save energy by using led lights, motion detection, light-sensitive switches and timers in outdoor lighting. In addition, more than 180 solar panels collect solar energy for the needs of the resort area. During the off-season, we aim to save energy by keeping cottages ready for use according to the booking situation. For example, electricity consumption is minimised by lowering the temperature to minimum for some of the accommodation selection.

We sort and recycle

We provide our guests with an easy way to recycle and care for nature, and we have arranged a waste sorting and recycling point in a central location. The recycling station includes separate bins for bio, energy, paper, cardboard, metal, plastic, glass, vegetable oil, battery and landfill waste. In addition, each kitchen used by customers has sorting bins and clear instructions for recycling.

We save water

Water consumption is reduced by washbasin taps with motion sensors in public toilets, water-saving showers at accommodation facilities and washbasin tap aerators.

We promote ecological transport

Buses, trains and bicycles are ecological ways of getting around, and we are also easy to reach by public transport. In addition, there is a charging station for electric vehicles in our car park.
