Our Story

Original Sokos Hotel Seurahuone – Kotka’s Home Harbor Since 1961

Located in the heart of Kotka, Original Sokos Hotel Seurahuone has been a city landmark for over six decades. The hotel first opened its doors on October 5, 1961, in the newly built Säästötalo, designed by renowned architects Kaija and Heikki Siren. At that time, Seurahuone featured a ground-floor reception, a restaurant on the seventh floor, and one and a half floors of guest rooms – all equipped with television connection points, a true luxury of the era.

Today, Seurahuone is a modern destination where classic heritage meets contemporary comfort.

The hotel has undergone several renovations over the years, with the latest expansion and refurbishment completed in summer 2025. A new five-story wing on Kaivokatu added 55 brand-new rooms and extra space for the reception. At the same time, 70 rooms and a suite were refreshed with maritime-inspired Ulappa and Satama themes, bringing the unique spirit of Kotka’s archipelago indoors.

Currently, Original Sokos Hotel Seurahuone offers:

218 stylish rooms, each designed with distinctive themes:

Engine Room – rugged industrial maritime style

Beach House – relaxed and bright coastal vibe

Captain – classic and elegant nautical atmosphere

Ulappa "Open sea" – serene and spacious sea view feel

Harbor – vibrant and urban dockside character

Four restaurants – Frans & Rosalie, VENN, Amarillo, and Las Palmas

Three panoramic saunas

A Gym

Eight versatile meeting rooms and a comprehensive Meetings & Events department

Seurahuone is more than a hotel – it’s Kotka’s home harbor, where new stories are created every day. Whether you’re visiting for business, events, or leisure, we hope you enjoy the maritime atmosphere and modern comfort.

Welcome to experience the renewed Seurahuone – a classic that evolves with time!
