A warm welcome to Original Sokos Hotel Vaakuna with the whole family! Our hotel is located in the city center next to the services. You will find a lot of nice things to do in Joensuu. Sokos shopping center and grocery store S-market are located in the same building.

Our hotel does not have a separate playroom for children, but restaurant Rosso has a renovated playground where you can have fun within the restaurant's opening hours. Come and take a peek at Onni-Orava's secret cabinet in the reception hall and borrow evening reading and games for the whole family.

Our hotel has a wonderful sauna section. Remember to pack your swimsuit and enjoy the wildly bubbling jacuzzi and gentle steam sauna.

Rooms suitable for families

For families, we recommend the Superior Twin room with the possibility of an extra bed. Inquire about our spacious rooms, which in addition to the shower have a bathtub and a separate toilet. You can also book several rooms, we place them next to each other upon request. Children under 3 stay free of charge in a travel cot, which you can add to the room when booking. A limited number of travel cots are available. We also deliver a potty with the travel cot.

Own additional room for children?

You can book an additional room for children at the price of 61€/2 children/day when you book a separate room for adults. You can book an additional children's room from the sales service or directly from the hotel.

Dining at the hotel

You can heat up snacks in the microwave located in the reception hall, or in our restaurants. In the breakfast room there are highchairs and smaller cutlery and bibs, which can also be borrowed into the room if necessary. You can also find small snacks in the reception shop.

Children's menus can be found in Amarillo, Rosso and Torero. At the Coffee House you can find snacks and soft drinks.

Things to do with children in Joensuu

Botania -> art and event garden near the center of Joensuu in Linnunlahti. As a staying hotel guest, you get a -20% discount on entrance tickets by showing your key card case.

Carelicum -> here you can find Mukulakatu. Joensuu tourist information is also located here.

There are about 100 playgrounds in the Joensuu city area.

The nearest swimming beaches can be found in Ilosaari and Linnunlahti. On a nice day, you can take a walk in Kuhasalo or the Utra islands.
