Waste Sorting

Our hotel complies with the Waste Act and municipal waste management regulations regarding proper waste sorting. We provide clear sorting instructions for both our guests and staff. The hotel apartments are equipped with facilities for sorting different types of waste. In our procurement, we avoid plastic and prefer the use of recycled materials.

Energy Saving

Most of the lighting in our hotel consists of energy-saving bulbs or LEDs. In the apartments, lights and ventilation automatically switch to energy-saving mode when the space is unoccupied. We regularly monitor energy consumption and continuously strive to improve efficiency. Our hotel uses locally produced green energy.

Water Conservation

Our apartments feature rain showers with limited water flow. The delightful rain showers and hand wash faucets in our bathrooms are equipped with flow restrictors to ensure water usage aligns with sustainable development. We monitor water consumption regularly.

Food

Our hotel serves locally sourced food in the restaurant and at breakfast. Vegetarian options are also available on our menu. We aim to use seasonal vegetables at the right time. In our restaurant, we actively monitor and work to reduce food waste.

Environmental Activities

We encourage our guests to move around in environmentally friendly ways! Together with our partners, we ensure there are plenty of activities available year-round. At our reception, you can get information about nearby hiking and nature destinations. We can also assist with public transport schedules for guests traveling by bus or train.

Local Collaboration

We work extensively with local businesses and educational institutions. We offer internship and work experience opportunities for students and schoolchildren. Our customer gifts are locally produced. We prefer local professionals and entrepreneurs for various renovation and repair projects in our hotel.

Charity

Through Osuuskauppa Keskimaa’s “Ilo auttaa” (Joy of Helping) campaign, we support a wide range of causes, especially in Central Finland. The focus changes annually, and in 2025, the goal is to improve the well-being of young people.

Our parking area includes ABC charging stations for electric vehicles.

Tips for Responsible Behavior During Your Stay

• Drink clean tap water. The water in Central Finland is pure and tasty. Drinking glasses are available in the apartments, and water is served in jugs at the restaurant.
• Choose local food at the restaurant and breakfast, and take only as much as you can eat. Even though the buffet is full of delicious options, start with a smaller portion and take more if you're still hungry.
• Give and experience gifts! Instead of traditional material gifts, opt for gift cards, restaurant dinners, or pampering weekends.
• Hop on a bike or use public transportation. Explore our beautiful surroundings in Himos. Our reception is happy to recommend the best outdoor routes and scenic spots.
