Earth Hour 2025

Earth Hour is a global environmental event and popular movement uniting people to take action for the benefit of our environment and climate. The next Earth Hour will take place on March 22, 2025, from 20.30 to 21.30.

WWF's Earth Hour is the world's most widespread international environmental event. According to polls, approximately 1.5 million Finns annually express their concern about the state of the environment by participating in Earth Hour. Hundreds of organizations from all over the country, from educational institutions to businesses and from municipalities to organizations, take part in the event.

Sokos Hotels are pioneers when it comes to climate work

Like the rest of S Group, the Sokos Hotels chain uses renewable electricity to a large extent. We always verify the origin of electricity with guarantee of origin.

S Group is itself one of the largest wind power producers in Finland and by far the largest producer and user of solar electricity. The rooftops and yards of our hotels and other locations are today equipped with almost 100,000 solar panels.

S Group's climate targets are the most ambitious in Finland: we do not only aim at carbon neutrality, but we intend to be carbon negative from 2025 onwards. That is, we help remove more carbon from the air than we produce.

We can only reach our climate goals if we can control our own emissions. Our goal is that in 2030, our emissions have fallen by 90% from the 2015 level. In addition to renewable energy, we are assisted by continuous improvement of energy efficiency and, among other things, the utilisation of heat generated by refrigeration equipment in the heating of properties.

In the international CDP climate assessment, the climate work of Sokos Hotels and S Group has been granted a grade A. Only seven companies have achieved this grade in Finland, and as part of S Group, we are the only hotel chain qualifying as climate work pioneers.
