The coronavirus has caused a significant drop in the number of S Group hotel and restaurant clients. Some hotels and restaurants will be closed and staff temporarily laid off. Hotels are however still open in most cities and reservations are accepted.
The corona epidemic has had a major impact on the tourism and hospitality industry. Like the rest of the industry, the S Group has also had to implement various adjustments both in its hotels and restaurants.
SOK's subsidiary Sokotel Oy, which operates Sokos Hotels and Radisson Blu Hotels in the Helsinki metropolitan area and other major cities, will temporarily close hotels in Oulu, Vaasa, Tampere and the Helsinki metropolitan area, as well as temporarily lay off staff. The layoffs affect the entire Sokotel Oy staff in Finland, a total of 1048 persons. The maximum duration of the layoffs is 90 days.
The majority of Sokos Hotels owned by the S Group's regional cooperatives are currently open. Decisions on possible closures will be made locally.

The still open S Group hotels and restaurants pay particular attention to safety and hygiene, allowing their safe use. Employees are given detailed instructions which are enforced at all locations.
Hotels offer their customers a more flexible cancellation policy. Rooms booked between March and April can be canceled free of charge until 18:00 on the day of arrival, at which time any advance payment will be refunded to the customer. You can also rebook your reservation free of charge until the end of the year.
