Tips for a Tampere visit

There is plenty to see and do in Tampere! The city's selection of museums is guaranteed to have something for everyone – how about visiting the adorable Moomin Museum or the exciting Spy Museum? In Kehräsaari, you can browse the selections of small designer boutiques. If you are looking for a rustic atmosphere, you can find it at Tallipiha. The Tammerkoski rapids flow through the city and provides shoppers the perfect scenery for taking a small break.

A covered passageway leads visitors from our hotel to the Tullintori shopping centre, which boasts a good selection of specialty stores. In addition to stores, the shopping centre hosts a variety of entertainment services. The Irti Maasta sports and entertainment centre has 14 climbing walls with the highest walls reaching up to nine metres! Prison Island has 23 different cells, where you are tasked to solve a variety of puzzles testing your dexterity and wit. If you are yearning for a bit of adrenaline, head over to Megazone to play laser tag – fun for all ages!

A short walk away from our hotel is the Tampere Hall that hosts the world's only Moomin Museum. The museum's permanent exhibition presents original Moomin illustrations donated by Tove Jansson to the City of Tampere. Visitors can also marvel at a five-storey model of the Moominhouse filled with hundreds of fascinating little details.

At the Vapriikki museum centre you can find a variety of temporary exhibitions and the Natural History Museum of Tampere, the Mineral Museum, the Postal Museum, the New Hockey Hall of Fame Finland, the Media Museum Rupriikki, the Finnish Museum of Games and the Doll Museum.

Tallipiha provides visitors with an idyllic and rustic atmosphere. Here you can find small shops with charming gift and interior design items and artisan's workshops. Be sure to visit Suklaapuoti, a chocolatier with a large selection of delicious chocolates and teas!

The products sold at the Kehräsaari artisan quarter are designed and manufactured in Finland. Kehräsaari's extensive selection includes accessories, jewellery, clothes, ceramics as well as gift and interior design items.

The Tampere Market Hall features over 30 different shops selling shoes, handicrafts, bakery products and local delicacies. The market hall also has a great selection of food vendors!

The legendary live music venues Pakkahuone and Klubi are also just a short walk away from our hotel. The Tampere Hall also serves as a venue for plays and concerts. Visit the venues' websites for up to date information on upcoming gigs and performances.
