Welcome to Break Sokos Hotel Tahko, an environmentally friendly and responsible hotel!

GREEN KEY CERTIFICATE

Thank you for choosing a Green Key certified accommodation company. The certificate serves as proof that the hotel is committed to taking into account the well-being of the environment in its operations.

Green Key is an international environmental label that promotes sustainable tourism. With environmentally certified hotels, travelers have even better opportunities to make environmentally sustainable choices and reduce their own carbon footprint.

Actions by which we take responsibility into account in our operations at Break Sokos Hotel Tahko include:

  • We use locally produced and organically labeled foodstuffs, products and services. Through elections, we strive to strengthen the local economy.
  • By monitoring the consumption of energy and water, we can constantly strive to use them more efficiently in our operations. Our rooms also have water-saving shower nozzles.
  • We monitor the amount of waste we produce, and we constantly aim to reduce the amount of mixed waste by recycling and sorting. In addition to mixed waste, our hotel rooms have bio waste collection.
  • Regarding cleaning chemicals and tissue paper, we only use eco-labeled products in our daily use.
  • All of our hotel rooms are approved by the Allergy Association and our floor treatment uses only odorless cleaning agents.
  • Intermediate cleaning is done and towels are changed in the rooms only on request.

The certificate was awarded to Break Sokos Hotel Tahko for the first time in 2018. "Environmental work is done all year round and we constantly strive to find solutions that take the environment into account," says environmental ambassador Seija Pirinen.

SUSTAINABLE TRAVEL FINLAND

The Sustainable Travel Finland mark is a recognition granted by Visit Finland, which is proof of valuable and long-term work for sustainable tourism. Getting the mark requires extensive familiarization and commitment to the seven-step operational development path of the Sustainable Travel Finland program.

"The journey towards responsible tourism already started when we joined the Green Key program. Our understanding of the importance of responsibility has grown along the way, and today responsibility is part of our everyday choices," says Anna Hämäläinen, hotel manager of Break Sokos Hotel Tahko.

"We are also strongly involved in developing sustainable tourism in the Tahko area together with the operators in the area. The goal of the Sustainable Tahko project has been to strengthen the appeal of the area as a responsible tourist destination," Hämäläinen continues.

The entrepreneurs of the Tahko area have signed a responsibility commitment, which confirms that we are committed to working together and in the long term for more sustainable tourism.

We also encourage our customers to commit to more sustainable tourism.
