School Holidays in Tallinn

Starting 90 €  /family/24 h

We may be living in uncertain times, but one thing's for sure: there's still plenty of fun to be had in Estonia! We care great deal about the hygiene and safety – we're following all the rules very closely and updating our staff and guests about them on a regular basis.

From 10-25 October all of our little guests will get a warm welcome from Onni the Squirrel. Onni has also come up with a special breakfast buffet just for kids, with plenty that's tasty and good for them, too! That way you can be sure your kids will have the energy they need for a day of fun in Tallinn.

Our favourite attraction this autumn is without doubt the family-friendly Proto Invention Factory, which opened last year. It's an interactive fantasy world offering a unique virtual experience you'll find nowhere else in Europe! Hours of discovery are guaranteed for visitors of all ages. Viru guests get 10% off family admission.

Proto awaits explorers and adventurers from the four corners of the Earth. It's situated on the waterfront in North Tallinn, just 500 metres from one of Europe's most unique museums, the famous Seaplane Harbour – which is well worth visiting itself. So why not make a day of it? An exciting new exhibition from the United States entitled ‘Unseen Ocean' will be opening at the Seaplane Harbour on 17 October, accompanied by a smaller exhibition on our very own Baltic Sea.

If you'd rather be in the water than overlooking it or learning about it, head to our close neighbour, Kalev Spa – one of the biggest water parks in northern Estonia. It offers fun and relaxation for both water and sauna lovers. Viru guests get 20% off family admission.

If you'd prefer a more private sauna experience than the popular water park provides, you can always hire one of the three saunas here at the hotel, which have room for up to eight people. Each of the saunas comes with its own plunge pool. Prices start from €45 for 90 minutes. To book a sauna, e-mail

In fact, there's no need to leave the hotel at all if you don't want to. We even have our own museum, up where you can just about touch the clouds on the 23rd floor: the KGB Museum, which lifts the veil of secrecy on life at the hotel during the Soviet era. Tickets start from €5.50 per person. The guides at the museum also offer fun walking tours of the Old Town at 11:00 on Saturdays (in Finnish) and at the same time on Sundays (in English). Tickets start from €10 per person. To book a tour, e-mail

After a day full of fun and exploration, why not recharge your batteries by treating yourself to a delicious meal at one of our restaurants? Try the popular pitas at Fafa's, or pick your favourites from the new Tex-Mex menu at Amarillo – where you can now put together your own meal by selecting from the range of small plates on offer! Young guests arriving at the hotel will be given some Onni the Squirrel pocket money, too. Come and find out what they can spend it on! Ice cream perhaps...?

We also recommend exploring what's on offer at Viru Keskus shopping centre, under the same roof as the hotel. What would a trip to Tallinn be without a bit of shopping along the way!

By choosing the Viru Hotel, everything your family will want to see and do will be close at hand. We're right in the heart of the city and right at the heart of life! Incidentally, many of our little guests consider our Onni the Squirrel family suite the biggest attraction in the city, since it's been designed and furnished with them in mind.

Come and enjoy the school holidays at the Viru Hotel in Tallinn!
