New exhibition in Tallinn: Sex & the Sea.

New exhibition in Tallinn: Sex & the Sea.

Being away from home for a long time makes seamen forget the usual values and behaviours, and they start searching for something to ease their lust and longing. Does the sea reveal the hidden nature of a person? Or does it create a new reality? The world that opens to us with its honest confessions and historical items is poetic and practical, mysterious and trivial at the same time. It's inhabited by sensual mermaids and sexually transmitted diseases that cause unbearable pain. Seamen have experienced and described these feelings throughout history. This ordinary, yet timeless world may stay to haunt us for a long time.

"Sex & the Sea", the exhibition prepared by Dutch multimedia artist Saskia Boddeke, opens the door to a world that had only been known to seamen so far.
