Sokos Hotel Viru

The First Environment-friendly Hotel in Estonia

In May 2002, Sokos Hotel Viru was the first accommodation establishment in Estonia to receive the international Green Key environmental label. Green Key is an international eco label for environmentally conscious businesses, joining accommodation companies and aiming to motivate companies to use environmentally sound products and technologies. By the end of 2006, 20 Estonian hotels had acquired the Green Key certificate.

Micro fiber cleaning cloths are used in hotel Viru for cleaning purposes as this considerably contributes to reducing the quantities of detergents and chemicals. Most hotel rooms have an energy-saving key card system for starting the plugs and switches and automated mini-bars, working at energy saving regime. Water-saving toilet bowls, shower and tap mixers are used. Waste handling and sorting system and sparing used of water and electricity are all well-elaborated.
