The House of Bomba is the heart of the region

Jegor Bombin built the House of Bomba for his only son Dimitri in Suojärvi in 1855. The house was built entirely of large logs, and not a single nail or other metal part was used in its construction. The building process lasted one summer. Dmitri's five children decided to pull down the house in 1934 but, fortunately, a replica of it was built in Nurmes, by Lake Pielinen, in the 1970s. From the House of Bomba, you can see all of the key sights of the region: the Greek Orthodox chapel tsasouna, as well as the impressive Karelian village. The entire area features a beautiful lake scenery. Stop here for a while and let the historical surroundings empower you! This is a place where time stands still and you can forget about all haste of life.

The House of Bomba, naturally, serves Karelian specialties from a buffet and a la carte. Our skilled chefs prepare such delicacies as smoked perch, Karelian stew and rye-crusted blueberry pie, without forgetting about the famous Karelian pies.
