During Ruka-Kuusamo’s winter season, you can take part in the popular weekly programme that brings together the best of the region’s varied range of activities: a trail riding tour on Mondays, a reindeer safari on Thursdays, a Lappish delicacy buffet on Saturdays and lots of other fun and interesting things to do at an affordable price for each day of the week. In addition, there is the Ruka weekly ski programme where you can free of charge try out the season’s latest equipment, compete in the Dumle Stiga sledge race or visit the Pyhätunturi fell on a day trip. 

Santa Claus’s workshop in the Arctic Circle, polar bears at Ranua Zoo and the icebreaker “Sampo” in Kemi are located just a few hours’ drive from Ruka-Kuusamo. Exotic and interesting Russia is less than an hour away too. 

The SkiBus enables you to travel conveniently and inexpensively between downtown Kuusamo and Ruka from morning until late evening.
